Interview with Inga Davydova, design studio Bon - Art

Dreams come true.

Sometimes.

At least we wish to be like that. The heroic transfer from timid anticipation to triumphal possession is impossible without such important and perfect component as “embodiment”.

Yes-yes. “Embodiment” is a magic stick used by those who had been called to realize your dream.

However the most effective phrases risk to stay only like a nice wrapping if a long-expected pleasure from realization of what had been planned won’t be put at the strong basis of conscious and consistent actions.

In fact, now we speak about them with a wonderful woman who is a director of a  design-studio “BonArt”, Inga Davydova.

-         For the last several years the topical question is how the crisis influenced your business?

-         The reply would be not so traditional and universal, more than that, not so expected: nowise.

-         ???

-         I mean, we understand that the world crisis, and that is why, a nation-wide phenomenon must be. Even in most difficult times our studio had offers and we are thankful our clients for this. I think that is why we had no time to contemplate the crisis, we always worked a lot.

-         Then the next question is rather reasonable: what are your clients bribed with if they go to a design-studio “BonArt” even in rather difficult times?

-         It is categorical to state that we are the best, I won’t do this. However… (laughs). Perhaps we talked about such component as “realization of a dream” not for nothing. When a potential customer comes to us, in most cases he/she already knows what he/she wants, how his home must look like because in a couple of years it will be a place for rest from the rhythm of modern life.

But only imagines on the assumption of  many factors and his/her personal experience.

You see, our respectable client may formulate that to what he/she tends. It is his/her right. And we being specialists, don’t have such right and must realize his/her wishes in concrete result due to some rules and principles.

Here the most difficult things begin. Though the most interesting as well.

Frankly saying not always client’s wishes which he has told may be incarnated in same concrete shapes…

-         And what is the way out?

-         Can you imagine, it exists. It consists in laborious and many-sided work. The client may stay at level “What”, and we try to make it “How”. Our specialists step by step show a great quantity of variants to our client. This process continues until one of them didn’t coincide with initial idea of a client. And it will be at the qualitative professional level. This moment we consider as our expected victory. It would be strange to hide that such approach needs time, patience and proper energies. And they are worst of it.

-         Are the clients satisfied?

-         How did you know?

Speaking seriously there are such things that can’t be done specially. For example, many of those with whom we started working became our good friends, we congratulate each other on holidays, send greetings on Birthdays. To my mind it would be impossible if the client is dissatisfied with the result.

-         You have persuaded me. So, is everything so simple?

-         If you remember, everything genius is simple. Builders’ work is an important component from starting point to logical end. And this part of realization of the project becomes the most unpredictable.

-         Really? What is the difficulty? There is a draft – take it and work…

-         In ideal – yes. But I will repeat – in ideal. However, have you communicated with builders lately?

-         Fortunately, no…

-         I see. The problem is that not any builder may read drafts… On the whole I noticed that a client may have a moral shock while socializing with building brigades.

-         That means that “not every yoghurt is useful”, am I right?

-         Yes, you are. And knowing this we take communication with builders upon oneself because for many years of work we have learned how to found the necessary words and arguments. But I can’t say that the best builder brigades with which we work are the skillful specialists and take care of their professional reputation.

-         To generate the necessary quantity of ideas which may satisfy the most fastidious customer you need to find their source. What is it for you?

-         We can’t permit to stop at reached point. Even if a phrase that we grow up with every order is very old, it is true. Besides we give a possibility to young specialists to receive practice. First, it brings something  new to the process, apart from this it gives a possibility to young people to find a realization of their potential. Sure, we try to correlate reasonably the difficulty of tasks and the experience of those who will solve these tasks.

-         The complete answers to questions asked have one interesting peculiarity: there is a wish not only to come to your studio but to continue this substantial talk.

-         So don’t deny oneself in pleasure.
