About a company

Szalon (pronounced “salon”) is dedicated to Hungarian and Central European antiques of the early 20th Century. The showroom features furniture and decorative arts from the Vienna Secession, Art Deco and Bauhaus eras, presenting a highly accomplished treasure trove to American collectors.

Rarely seen in the U.S., Hungarian design combines indigenous motifs with medieval and eastern influences for uniquely-flavored Modernist furnishings. Clean, sensual lines, gorgeous native woods and fine detailing make these pieces equally suitable to period and contemporary interiors. The Szalon collection features works by Josef Hoffmann, Otto Wagner, Gustav Giegel, Dagobert Peche, and Joseph Maria Olbrich, as well as pieces by Hungary’s best known native designer, Lajos Kozma, and the renowned Zsolnay ceramics factory, among many others.
