“Silk interior”
German company KT Exclusive offers an assortment of rich, luxurious silk interior fabrics with embroidery and without. Unique designs are developed in our own design studio and almost entirely produced in Italian factories.
Genuine silk is obtained from threads of silkworm cocoon, which is a raw material. Silk is thin but extremely tear-proof, easy to dye, however, retains lustre. The biggest cocoons while unwinding provide a continuous thread of up to 1200 meters. Silk production is a complex, expensive, time-consuming process, that is why silk is one of the most expensive textile materials.
In the 6th century AD the first silkworm larvae got to Byzantium, thereby abolishing China monopoly of silk fabrics production. The Ottoman Turks began to produce silk robes and other garment, embroidered with arabesques and flowers. In the 9th century the Arabs in Spain began to make the finest silk edged with Arabic script. By 14th century trade routes has been already carried through the sea, and Venice and Florence reached the forefront of silk trade. In these Italian city-countries they began to produce crimson and gold silk.
French silk trade blossomed in Tours and Lyon by the mid-16th century. To stimulate demand, by order of King Louis the 14th, French masters created a new drawing on silk every half-year. These were the scenes from the life of the French court, pastorals, rural landscapes and park ensembles, images of animals and birds.
Silk is always accompanied with luxury and pleasure. Now connoisseurs of luxury interiors want to enjoy not only beautiful, but also ecological things and silk fully meets this requirement. These fabrics truly serve the implementation of leading fashion and interior designers’ ideas. Clothes made of silk will warm you in the cool evening and cool off in the hot daytime. Silk linen has long been recognized as the best in terms of ergonomics. The structure of KT Exclusive’s silk fabrics is varied by using different threads: monothreads, twisted, textured and shaped. Technologies of silk fabrics production continue to improve. Silk fabrics are produced whitened, dyed, printed, multi-colored. While finishing silk fabrics can be processed with uncreasable, unshrinkable, water-repellent and other impregnations.
KT Exclusive’s luxurious interior silks have different degree of lustre: from muted to bright and festive depending on the light: daylight, electric lamps, candles and fireplaces light. They will transform any environment – from intimate in the bedroom to bright, exquisite in the living room or office. Delicate pastel drawings will perfectly show off the furniture in the children’s room and create comfort in the dining room. Silk embroidery on silk fabric is the pearl of oriental arts. According to written sources, this type of applied art originated in the era of the Three Kingdoms (Ancient China, more than two thousand years ago). Emperor of Wu kingdom (present territory of the lower and middle streams of the Yangtze River) Sun Tsyuan ordered the sister of his chief minister to embroider “Map of Kingdoms”. Mountains, rivers, cities and buildings were created in small details on a square canvas of silk fabric.
Traditions and experience are preserved and enhanced in KT Exclusive’s fabrics. Best embroideries surpass painted pictures. Silk embroidery on silk can be two-sided – an embroidered image looks exactly the same on both sides. Along with the classic, flower motives there are very unusual, contemporary designs with geometric shapes, lines, and abstract drawings in the collection. The variety of colors (in some designs up to 40!), textures and patterns allow you to choose curtains, bedspreads and pillows to almost any, even the most refined interior.
