Robust, Elegant - and Rustproof
A new home textile collection is made of 100 percent steel. Greetings from the Middle Age.
Metallic effects in textiles are in fact not new now. In addition, weaving of metal filaments is well known. In the late Middle Age, gold threads were processed into textiles, for example. The so-called "Cologne gold" (oro di Colognia) was used not only for braids, but also for precious Italian silk brocades to increase the value of this textile.
The Spanish company “Naturtex” now presented the topic "Metal Textiles" in a new way. The character feature of the items is their manufacture of 100 percent steel, and in order to produce them, the company rearranged one of their looms especially for this purpose. That is real devotion to the material.
The result is impressive: shiny, smooth and accurately woven materials have fascinating visual effects and such pleasant tactile qualities that have not probably been reached since the medieval chainmail. The modern architecture inspired appearance of this stainless fabric, which integrates pretty well into it and makes a great room divider. Thanks to theses fabrics, there appear fascinating light effects and reflections.
Combination of real, hard steel and flowing, almost soft shapes gives this textile novelty special charm. "Stainless Steel Fabric" is not just something for heavy metal fans with penchant for the dark ages, but for aesthetes – its demonstration took place at the “Tribeca Grand Hotel” in New York.
